College Readiness meeting Tennessee Diploma Project Goals
In 2008/09, the Tennessee Department of Education and state Board of Education launched the Tennessee Diploma Project (TDP), a broad overhaul of standards and curriculum designed to challenge students and better prepare them for college and the workforce. Beginning with the Class of 2012, students will be required to complete additional and more rigorous math and science courses in order to graduate.
Kingsport City Schools is committed to meeting these goals while increasing the academic focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). “Our goal is for every student to be ready for college and the workforce upon graduation, no exception,” said Superintendent Richard Kitzmiller.
